Seattle Orcas get all out for 60 as Texas Super Kings defeat them by 93 runs

Texas Super Kings achieved their third consecutive victory, while Seattle Orcas faced their second consecutive defeat in MLC 2025, as TSK dismissed the Orcas for a mere 60 runs on a pitch with inconsistent bounce in Oakland. The Orcas were pursuing a modest target of 154 but never appeared capable of reaching it, having been reduced to 21 for 5 within the first five overs by the TSK fast bowlers. Ultimately, they were bowled out in 13.5 overs, suffering a heavy defeat by 93 runs.

Earlier in the day, the Super Kings also faced challenges with the bat. On a somewhat slow surface where certain deliveries bounced while others remained low, Faf du Plessis and Devon Conway were dismissed during the powerplay following their arduous time at the crease. The innings was managed by Saiteja Mukkamalla and Mitchell, who persevered for six overs, contributing to their 48-run partnership. Although Mitchell struggled to connect for significant hits, Mukkamalla managed to hit a couple of sixes off Sikandar Raza and Salamkheil.

However, it was Marcus Stonis’s aggressive batting that truly injected momentum into the innings. The Australian power hitter struck four sixes during his brief 12-ball appearance. Milind Kumar and Shubham Ranjane added a late flourish, hitting two sixes and a boundary in the final over, propelling the Super Kings to a commendable total on a challenging surface.

The duo swiftly dismantled the Orcas’ top-order, leaving them struggling at 21 for 5 by the conclusion of the fifth over. Both bowlers managed to make the ball move significantly, causing the batters to face difficulties, frequently outsmarting them and occasionally inducing edges. However, the Orcas’ plight persisted even after the introduction of spin. Noor Ahmad entered the fray two overs later, dismissing Sujit Nayak and Harmeet Singh leg before wicket, which reduced the team to 27 for 7.

Aaron Jones and Jasdeep Singh, the only two batters from the Orcas to achieve double-digit scores, provided a brief respite with an 18-run partnership, partially supported by Daryl Mitchell’s short delivery, which was effortlessly dispatched for a six. Jones also hit Noor for a six in the subsequent over, over long off, but his promising innings was abruptly ended by Stonis. While attempting to pull another short ball, Jones top-edged it to short third.

Noor trapped Obed McCoy leg before wicket in the 11th over, yet the last wicket pair prolonged their time at the crease without making an effort to chase the target. Jasdeep Singh and Waqar Salamkheil faced 17 deliveries, accumulating only seven runs before the former was dismissed by Burger.

SCORECARD: Texas Super Kings 153/6 in 20 overs (Saiteja Mukkamalla 30, Marcus Stoinis 28; Harmeet Singh 2-24, Jasdeep Singh 2-34) beat Seattle Orcas 60 in 13.5 overs (Aaron Jones 17, Jasdeep Singh 12; Nandre Burger 3-10, Zia ul Haq 3-16) by 93 runs
